Eye on Malacca

Situated on the banks of Melaka River, just opposite the old Cathay Cinema near Jalan Hang Tuah bridge, the 25-metre-high Eye on Malacca is Malacca’s latest tourist attraction. It is expected to be bigger than Taman Tasik Titiwangsa’s Eye on Malaysia, as two other attractions have been added on to it – a trampoline bungee and a pirate ship – which can be experienced as a bundled deal along with a ride on the Eye on Malacca.

KLCC Nightlife Guide

What to Do and Where to Go

The area around KLCC is Kuala Lumpur's hotbed of night-time entertainment and excitement. Clubs, bars, pubs and lounges are scattered around the roads of Sultan Ismail, Pinang and Ampang with some prominent names like Hard Rock Café and Zouk.

During the day, they assume a low profile but come night, the young at heart gather at their favourite watering holes to party and dance the night away, especially on weekends!

Around Sultan Ismail
This is the most popular area for clubbing and partying at night. The lower stretch of the road which connects to the Kuala Lumpur Tower entrance on the right and KLCC on the left is host to a wide range of night clubs that boost atmosphere and music. One of the oldest and most popular establishments is the Hard Rock Café, located near the Concorde Hotel.

The place attracts a strong following of locals and expatriates, with frequent live band performances. Rhythm & blues along with rock seem to be the mainstay while the cuisine is distinctly American in flavour. Further down the road is where the action truly begins! Right at the cross junction at the end of Sultan Ismail is a heavy concentration of nightclubs that cater to different tastes.

The open-air Beach Club has a heavy concentration of international tourists, especially Caucasian visitors from the middle-age group, which also means there are lots of local and Philippine girls trying to be picked up! It follows a Hawaiian concept with an open-air bar along with glittery lights and loud music while the weekends are truly packed with both locals and tourists.

Just opposite the Beach Club is another old-timer, Nouvo, which is a bar on the ground floor and a club upstairs. The bar is pretty well-decked in red and feels like a lounge with plenty of cushions and dark colours. The environment is elegant and spacious, which is good for urban professionals and older clubbers.

On the other hand, look out for Espanda, another cool and chic club formerly known as Emporium. Over here, visitors can choose to dine in an al-fresco environment in the landscaped garden outside or head inside for some dancing and loud music. Ruums is another new joint in Sultan Ismail, which has two main areas; one which follows a tropical theme with an island-styled lounge while the other is a space age-like party zone with a spacious dance floor.

About KLCC

Where to Go in Kuala Lumpur City Centre
Twin Towers, KL Tower, Aquaria KLCC

Kuala Lumpur City Centre has a number of prominent landmarks and hidden attractions around it.

A visit to the Petronas Twin Towers or KL Tower is a must on any travel itinerary in Kuala Lumpur, but new attractions such as the city's first commercial aquarium, Aquaria KLCC and established ones, such as the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, should not be missed.

Petronas Twin Towers
The Petronas Twin Towers is the second highest structure in the world, at 451.9-meters high. Consisting of 88-floors, the Twin Towers are a remarkable architectural demonstration of Islamic art fusing with contemporary design styles. The Towers sit upon a 120-meter deep concrete foundation, built upon what used to be a popular race track in the city.

From outside, the Twin Towers look like a pair of steel pinnacles, glistering brightly under the sun but it was actually constructed primarily from super high-strength concrete. The top of each tower resembles thin minarets and both buildings are connected via a sky bridge with an inverted 'V' pillar below it. At night, the Twin Towers become brightly light like a beacon in the middle of the city.

Nestled between the towers is the popular shopping mall Suria KLCC as well as the Philharmonic Orchestra Theatre Hall and the Petrosains Discovery Centre. On the grounds fronting the towers, a well-landscaped park and garden provide refreshment and recreation for visitors and local residents of Ampang area. In this beautiful park, there are paved jogging paths, water coolers and rows of neatly-trimmed flowering shrubs and bushes.

The esplanade facing the Twin Towers has a wide fountain that incorporates a light show during the night. Programmed to provide up to 150 colourful simulations of water and light, it never fails to catch the attention of passer-bys in the area. In addition, there is a free wading pool for children in the park, a welcome respite for families after a hot day.

For visitors wanting a view from the top of the Twin Towers, the sky-bridge is open for visitors, but only to the first 1,400 people each day. The passes are free to walk the 58-meter long bridge which is open from 9am to 7pm daily, except on Mondays when it is closed

Amazing KLCC

Kuala Lumpur City Centre refers to the commercial centre located in the heart of the city that includes the Petronas Twin Towers, the Suria KLCC Shopping Mall, a park, a 5-star hotel and prime office blocks. Strategically located in the centre of Kuala Lumpur, which gives rise to its name, KLCC and the areas around it are some of the main destinations for shopping, clubbing and business for both locals and internationals.

KLCC is located within the Ampang district, which is itself a prime residential and commercial area that fetches a high value in real estate. Even its history is filled with richness; Ampang was the home of the tin barons that earned a fortune from Kuala Lumpur's mining trade. Even today, Ampang is regarded as a place for upmarket people in terms of living and spending.

Ampang is also where most of the embassies from countries such as America, the United Kingdom, France and China are located, along with a high number of expatriates living in the area. In terms of shopping, KLCC is an extremely popular area for high-class fashion and upmarket items. Many international restaurants and cafes also carpet the area, a testament to its international community. At night, Ampang and its bordering roads are popular nightspots.
